RACE AND ETHNICITY

Currently, we are examining the unique social experiences that multiracial people encounter and their coping strategies for dealing with racial stigmatization. In addition, we are interested in examining perceptions of biracial people and how specific ethnic markers (e.g., phenotype, stereotype consistency) and racial attitudes may influence perceptions of biracial people.

GENDER ROLES, BODY, AND SEXUALITY

We continue to explore how gender roles and stereotypes affect sexual and romantic relationships. In addition, we believe that the physical body plays an important role in the relationship between shaping social and sexual experiences for men and women. Thus, we cover several topics including investment in gender norms, relationship contingency (the extent to which people base self-esteem in relationships), ways to foster autonomy and power in intimate relationships as well as sexual functioning and satisfaction.
